* The EU took note of the decision by the UN to withdraw from negotiations with Cambodia on setting up the Khmer Rouge Tribunal. While appreciating the difficulty of its task, the EU encourages the UN Secretariat to keep the door open to a resumption of negotiations to ensure the establishment of an internationally credible tribunal. * The EU believes the agreement reached at the Third Global Ministerial Environment Forum held in Colombia will serve to enhance International Environmental Governance and help integrate it into the process of sustainable development. For the full statement, please click here
* The European Commission has decided to allocate EUR 700,000 to the Integrated Regional Information Network (IRIN) which operates as a project of the United Nations Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs. This money, will allow UN-OCHA to boost its present capacity to produce analytical reports on humanitarian developments in major disaster-affected countries in Africa and Central Asia.
