
Sommaire: 25 July 2012, Brussels - The spokesperson of Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission, issued the following statement today following the meeting with Prime Minister of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi:
"High Representative Catherine Ashton met today in Brussels with Prime Minister of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi as part of their regular exchanges on the progress of Kosovo and its European agenda. The High Representative and Prime Minister Thaçi assessed progress in this past year as very substantial and agreed to continue to work closely to further promote Kosovo's EU perspective.
They also discussed the need to continue dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade. The High Representative underlined the importance of full implementation by both sides of all the agreements reached in the dialogue. She has also stressed that once the new government is in place in Belgrade, talks need to resume as swiftly as possible.
Catherine Ashton expressed satisfaction at the renewal of EULEX mandate; this mission is an important part of the EU's commitment to Kosovo."
