EU-UN Sanctions Seminar
From 28 to 30 March 2012, the EU Delegation hosted the biennial EU-UN Sanctions Seminar organised with Denmark as current Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The seminar focused on the latest legal and political events regarding sanctions and built upon the practice for convening such meetings alternately in Brussels and New York. One of the core objectives of the Seminar was to discuss the coherence and synergy between the decisions taken by the United Nations Security Council and the implementation at the EU level.
The three-day Seminar gathered over 120 high level participants from more than 30 countries. The opening remarks for the event were delivered by H.E. Ambassador Thomas Mayr-Harting, Head of the EU Delegation in New York and H.E. Ambassador Carsten Staur, Permanent Representative of Denmark.
